Bathroom renovation planning: start to finish

Most bathroom failures are planning failures: a drain in the wrong place, a glass panel that cannot be serviced, a fan that is quiet on paper and loud in a Westmount ensuite. The antidote is a written scope, a measured survey, and a sequence that every trade can follow.

We ask four questions at the outset. What is the room for — a spa, a family bath, a powder room with presence? What cannot move — stacks, windows, structure? What is the material language of the house? What is the occupancy plan during the work?

From there: drawings, a procurement calendar for long-lead stone and fixtures, and a site logic that keeps the rest of the house livable. Waterproofing is specified as a system, not a product. Heating and ventilation are sized, not assumed.

The last day is a commissioning, not a reveal. Water, heat, light, and storage are tested. The client receives a record of what was built. That is how a bathroom remains a luxury five winters later.
